Consumption of hot rolled plate has not risen as much, in the United States, as economic indicators may suggest. Competition between home and overseas suppliers is keeping a lid on prices. Delivery lead times are now reaching towards the summer shutdown period so supply chain participants foresee no substantial upturn in demand until after the holidays. Prices in the Japanese domestic market are unchanged, this month, but producers are looking to raise export offers, in order to cover the increased outlay for nickel.
