US negotiated basis figures for austenitic drawn bar are higher this month by dollar US20/50 per tonne. Activity is brisk, with inventory levels in balance with current demand. Type 304 alloy surcharges in March are up whilst those for grade 316 have dropped. We have noted some price recovery in Japan, mainly as a result of higher input costs. We have no price movements to report in South Korea or Hong Kong. A degree of oversupply still exists. However, improving market conditions in Taiwan have allowed suppliers to implement a further dollar NT5000 per tonne hike.
