China's Baoshan Iron & Steel is to install a new annealing and pickling line valued at around dollar US50 million. It will be designed to process in the region 900,000 tonnes per year of hot rolled strip -depending on product mix and is scheduled to go into production in mid 2007. China's Baosteel, is building a 450,000 tonne per year stainless cold rolling mill at its Shanghai No.1 subsidiary. Start up is scheduled for the end of 2007 or early 2008. By the time it is completed, Baosteel's cold rolling joint venture, Baoxin Stainless, will have expanded its annual output potential to around 650,000 tonnes - lifting the company's total cold rolling capacity to over 1.0 million tonnes.
