Kline & Company's study,;Global Cosmetics & Toiletries 2004,reported an increase of more than 4% in the global market for cosmetics and toiletries and nearly US150 billion in sales in 2004.Presenting sales and market data for 20 product categories in 16 countries around the world,the study showed skin and hair care products to be the main drivers of growth."Europe is the largest market for cosmetics and toiletries,but countries like Argentina,Brazil,Russia and China are showing the highest rates of growth,"said Carrie Bonner,Industry Manager,Consumer Products,in Kline's research division.Asia,the leading region in terms of skin care product consumption,accounted for approximately US17.5 billion in manufacturers'sales in 2004.While on a regional basis,Asia had an increase in sales of less than 4%,from 2003 to 2004,the markets of China and India saw growth of 12.5% and 7.7%,respectively;together,they surpassed the US10 billion mark.
