The Steel Construction Institute [SCI] has worked with the British Constructional Steelwork Association [BCSA] and Corus under the chairmanship of Professor Roger Plank of Sheffield University, to develop a sustainability strategy for steel in construction. Published as Sustainable Steel Construction-Building a Better Future, the Strategy builds on the work the sector has been doing for the last ten years, and prioritises actions for the future. It is in line with the UK Government's Sustainability Strategy, Building a better quality of Life, and guidance was received from the Sustainable Development Commission and the DTI through the Pioneers Forum, which was set up to help industry groups develop sector strategies.
