High quality coke production at Tata Steel using inferior coals via stamp charging

摘要

Stamp charging is a versatile cokemaking technology whose suitability for Indian coals is described. The technology allows production of coke of high strength from inferior coals, reserves of which are abundant in the country. Taking advantage of this has helped Tata Steel to become the largest producer of stamp charged coke in the world. It is shown how this type of coke has also contributed to blast furnace performance at high coal injection rates.
