In more recent years, and thanks to an ambitious restructuring programme of investments in plant and commercial activities, this Italian company has been able to complete a plan of consolidation and development based on specialisation in niche markets, in order to be closer to market requirements. To do so, the R&D Centre and technical laboratories worked closely with the manufacturing departments to diversify production and successfully offer Cogne customers a unique range of high quality products conforming to the highest international standards. Together with continuous improvements to the production processes, Cogne achieved a certified Quality Management System -which complies with UN! EN ISO 9001:2000 and ISO TS 16949-and obtained, among others, the CARES accreditation for the production of hot and cold rolled plain and ribbed stainless steel bar (BS6744 grade 200 and 500) for the reinforcement of concrete, in order to adapt to the rapid changes in trade flows and world market trends, which the steel industry has been experiencing in recent years, especially in South Asia, Cogne has focused many of its efforts on that area.
