DG, BIS attends meeting of Indo-Russian Joint Working Group and also meets Srilankan delegation

Shri P.S. Das, Director General, BIS attended the fifth meeting of Indo-Russian Joint Working Group on Science & Technology held on 12 January 2000 in New Delhi. Prof V.S. Ramamurthy, Secretary, DST and Dr V.A. Knyazhev, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Science and Technology, Russian Federation were the Co-chairmen of the meeting from Indian and Russian side respectively.While reviewing the progress of work under Sub-Working Group on Standardization, Metrology and Certification, Import and Export Certification, the schemes of the two countries in these fields were identified as an important area for future cooperation. It was also agreed to initiate measures for cooperation between representative of 'Rostest-Moscow' in India and BIS to widen the volume of work on certification and inspection of products of Indian manufacturers for export to Russia.
