In the present era of economic globalization, the rapid development of information and communication technology, increase in personal mobility and the challenge of facing diverse kinds of risks, the International Standards play the key role of creating confidence globally. It is because of this that this year's theme of World Standards Day which is celebrated every year on 14 October has been dedicated to 'International Standards - Creating Confidence Globally'. In the increasing globalized environment, it is hard to imagine a world without standards. International Standards are seen as tools for building clarity, assuring quality and safety in the use of products and services globally. The International Standards facilitate the system's interoperability and compatibility, at the same time helping in the promotion of transfer of new technologies by facilitating market access for innovative solutions and providing confidence to users.
