RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL QUALITY AWARDS FOR THE YEAR 2001

Shri Yashwant Shave, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India presided over this function and presented the Awards and Commendation Certificates. Addressing the gathering of award winners and other dignitaries, Shri Shave congratulated the awardees and expressed confidence that the Indian industry would continue with its efforts for improvement in the quality of products and services and keep pace with the rapid technological developments. He opined that emergence of competitive economic environment and effective transmission of information were responsible for the development of the quality of products and services. He underlined the importance of enhancing customer satisfaction which was the ultimate measure of the quality of a product or service. He emphasised on the need for changing mindset to develop the passion for quality among people who were the ultimate source for improving quality. He also expressed satisfaction on the growing awareness among Indian Corporate sector towards their role in development ofthe society as a whole.
