Speciality cokes from coal tars: A combined solution for graphite electrodes and aluminium cathodes

CHINA and India are seeing the growth rate in steel and aluminium production exceeding two digits and here they face a challenging situation for the supply of high quality cokes for the manufacture of electrodes for electric arc furnaces (EAF) and for cathodes for primary aluminium production. The majority of premium needle coke is still imported in both countries and there is no production of needle coke in India. Hard isotropic cokes for graphitized cathode production are also unavailable in both countries.
