US protests over China's steel 'dumping'

"They are crying wolf again!" a New York based steel importer told me in a private conversation recently. The steel importer, who declined to be named, was 'simply confused' over the hue and cry raised by the US steel industry over the 'flood' of Chinese steel imports into the USA . The US steel industry, still unable to wriggle out of the economic crisis as demand continues to be low, has turned its attention to the Chinese steel industry. It has joined the chorus of nations calling for China to stop steel dumping. The dumping has become possible, they say, because of subsidies and other 'invisible' financial support Chinese producers receive from their government.
