SSAB Tunnplat is launching Docol Hard - a range of advanced high strength, cold-rolled steels with various spmbinations of properties. The steels broaden the range of cold-rolled steels and give wide opportunities for developing new, more efficient products. The new steels are included in the SSAB Swedish steel range of advanced high strength, cold-rolled steels. Docol Hard combines strength and thickness in a way that gives the designer totally new scope for product development. The key to the properties of the new steels is the additional hardening achieved by a special rolling process. Furniture, containers and safety parts are some of the areas in which the steels have already contributed to better and more effective products." Docol Hard is produced in three product groups, with different combinations of strength and thickness. Docol Hard 450Y-750Y has a minimum yield strength range of 450-700N/mm~2 and is characterised by being very thin at 0.28-1.0mm. Weight reductions of up to 50 percent and cost savings of up to 25 percent are attainable. Typical applications include light fittings, white goods and furniture such as shelving.
