Steel Rolling 2006 - a report on the 9th International and 4th European rolling conference in Paris June 19-21

Organised by the French steel association, ATS, and held at the CNIT centre in west Paris, the 120 papers presented were held in parallel sessions. There was also a modest exhibition of some 20 stands during the event, an excellent gala dinner at the 17C Grand Maisons residence near Versailles, and plant tours after the event to ProfilArbed Belval, Luxembourg for long products and Arcelor Atlantique et Lorraine, Florange and ThyssenKrupp Steel, Duisburg for flat products. The scope of the conference covered rolling of carbon steel, stainless steel, special steels, heavy plate, hot rolling, cold rolling, flat products and long products. New technologies and innovations were discussed in papers on modelling, scheduling, simulation, metallurgy, maintenance, environment, rolls, measurements, tribology, process, energy savings and safety.
