The first electric arc furnace to be fitted with a Fuchs shaft preheater in China has proved highly successful in terms of rapid commissioning and its ability to produce high carbon rod to a consistent quality. Power consumption averages337-379kWh/t for low and high C steels respectively, and tap to tap times 57-68 minutes for these grades.
