Baosteel Shanghai No 5: the latest meltshop for special and stainless steels in China

The start up in November 2003 of the Baosteel Shanghai No 5 minimill marked the beginning of operation of one of the most modern specialty steel plants in PR of China. A new meltshop for special and stainless steels started up in October 2003 as part of the new Baosteel Shanghai No 5 Minimill, in Baoshan-Shanghai province, China. Supplied by Danieli, the minimill has a nominal designed capacity of 350kt/y and features all the latest Danieli technologies and 'high-tech' equipment available for steel-making, casting, rolling, on-line processing and heat-treatment of stainless steel bars, wire rod and bar-in-coils.
