Kobe Steel, Ltd announced its financial results for FY 2007, ending March 31, 2008: the company's consolidated net sales in fiscal 2007 rose RMB 222.1 billion (2.09 billion US dollars, to RMB 2132.4 billion (20.08 billion dollars) in comparison to the same period last year, owing mainly to firm demand for steel, construction machinery and other products. Operating income decreased RMB 6.2 billion (58.38 Million dollars) to RMB 202.3 billion ( 1.90 billion dollars in comparison to the same period last year, due to higher depreciation arising from a change in the depreciation method brought about by tax reforms.
