Role of Certification in WTO Regime

In order to publicize BIS Certification services by demonstrating their relevance to WTO regime, Lucknow Branch Office (LBO) has initiated a series of programmes jointly with the local industry associations on 'Role of Certification in WTO Regime' targeting members of such associations especially non-licensees with a view to bring them under the fold of BIS certification. The first such programme was organized in association with the Eastern U.P. Exporters' Association (EUPEA), the Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industry of U.P. and SIDBI at Varanasi on 17 February 2004, in which several members of EUPEA participated. Smt Zohra Chatterjee, IAS, Secretary (Small Industries), Government of UP, who had agreed to be the Chief Guest regretted at the last minute and therefore Shri V. K. Srivastava, Scientist F & Head, LBO was the Chief Guest for the programme.
