Awareness Programme on Mandatory Certification of Electrical Items Including Electric Wires & Cables

Bhopal Branch Office organized an awareness programme for the manufacturers/traders stockists and senior officers of DICs, SISI on the mandatory certification of electrical items with an emphasis on Electric Wires and Cables. The programme was organized on 10 September 2004 at Hotel Kanchan Tilak, Indore. After the issue of Gazette Notification dated 17 February 2003 related to the inclusion of a number of electric products under mandatory certification, this was the first programme organized in Madhya Pradesh towards an effort to educate all the concerned people/authorities in this direction. Shri K C Trivedi, Scientist F & Head BPLBO welcomed all the participants and in his opening remarks briefed the audience about the various activities of BIS including Product Certification, Quality Systems Certification, ECO Mark, Hall Marking, testing and calibration arid complaint investigations. He informed in detail the BIS policies on the various aspects mentioned above and emphasized the need of cooperation from all concerned so as to help BIS in rendering timely services to the industry and customers. He also touched upon the Gazette Notification on Electrical items and stressed upon the need to avail of BIS licence by all manufacturers of these products for implementation of Quality Control Order. He also highlighted the role of traders, stockists and consumers in helping the government authorities in successfully implementing the order. Prior to the programme a press conference was also organized during which Shri Trivedi informed the press about the activities of BIS, QC Order and Hall Marking of Gold Ornaments. He answered all the queries raised by the press to their satisfaction.
