Fuchs Systemtechnik has developed a new type of shaft furnace for scrap melting with integrated scrap preheating. It is equipped with modern power supplies for long arc technology and injection of powdered products for foaming slag technology. Through intensive use of fossil primary energy and controlled post-combustion this kind of furnace offers not only important energy saving but also flexibility in selecting the least cost combination of fossil and electrical energy according to market or seasonal requirements.
