South Africa's first flat products mini-mill,Saldanha Steel, is due to be commissioned at the beginning of1998. It uses a range of innovative technologies, including an In-line Strip Production (ISP) thin slab caster and mill built byMDH-their fourth reference for this technology-which will becapable of hot rolling strip to 1mm gauge.
