Construction is one of the largest and most dynamic industries on the globe today, accounting for nearly 15 percent of the world's gross product and millions of jobs, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. A quick snapshot of several Southwestern states shows a rapidly increasing population with a critical need to build roadways, hospitals, schools, retail and office buildings and other infrastructure. In Arizona alone, the construction industry employs 240,000 individuals, representing one of 11 jobs in the state. Over the next 10 years, Arizona's economy will likely see the creation of an additional 40,000 new construction jobs, driving the need for an increase in college-educated leaders in the industry.
