One of the first stories I tracked down for Hat-ton-Brown eight years ago was when Weyerhaeuser introduced its dispatch trucking program around McComb, Miss. This was, I believe, their first experiment with dispatch trucking in the South. Weyerhaeuserstarted the program out west about 10 years ago, and has said that it is now standard procedure at most of its operations. As far as we know, some version of it has been implemented in Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, North Carolina and possibly Georgia. According to an interview with the Piney Woods Journal in 2006, Weyerhaeuser said at the time that the program was working well, and has been popular with loggers, while a separate Piney Woods Journal article on the topic indicated mixed opinions among loggers.
