Rosemont Copper Project Moves Forward

Pima and Santa Cruz counties will see economic benefits totaling billions of dollars over a 20-year production period as a result of the Rosemont Copper Project, according to a recent independent study commissioned by the State of Arizona Department of Mines and Minerals Resources (DMMR) and compiled by Arizona State University (ASU). The study, conducted by the L.William Seidman Research Institute at ASU's W.P. Carey School of Business, reveals that production activities will generate an average annual increase of 745 million dollars per year in economic activity, to start as soon as construction begins. In addition, five years after ceasing production at the mine, economic activity in the local economy would still be 75 million dollars per year higher than if the Rosemont project had never existed.
