The National Association of Women in Construction Las Vegas Chapter #74 is dedicated to educatioa opportunity and community service. Late last year, more than 400 high school students participated in 43 interactive workshops as NAWIC energized the local construction industry to present Nevada's first Construction Career Day, October 10, 2008 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Las Vegas chapter of the Associated General Contractors AGC joined NAWIC as a platinum sponsor for the event that showcased career opportunities in the construction trades, management and more. Dozens of construction equipment displays pierced the skyline in the speedway's infield, and vendors such as the American Public Works Association, Nevada Power Co. and AGC member companies set up shop in the speedway's Neon Garage. The American Public Works Association, American Society of Professional Estimators, Clark County School District, Federal Highway Administration, Nevada Department of Transportation and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas contributed to the planning and execution of the event.
