Point of view: the honest truth about vertebroplasty.

One might affectionately rename this article "The Honest Truth About Vertebroplasty." It is rare that one reads a report of a study that does not appear to be ensconcing anything about a particular procedure or technique. Galovich et al have taken great efforts to accurately report and compare the treatment results of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PV) and nonoperative care for acute osteopo-rotic compression fractures. Using sound scientific methodology, the authors have demonstrated both the advantages and shortcomings of PV without the sense of an infomercial selling one product/procedure or another.
