In a recent issue of Spine, Liang et al published an article titled "Association Between rsl 1190870 Polymorphism Near LBX1 and Susceptibility to Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis in East Asian Population: A Genetic Meta-Analy-sis." In this study, the investigators performed a meta-analysis to derive a strong association between rsl 1190870 polymorphism and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) in female in East Asian population but not in male. This is a great work that we really appreciate. However, after reading the article carefully, we also found some worthwhile issues we would like to raise to the investigators. First, the investigators used the codominant model to analysis the rsl 1190870 polymorphism near LBX1 and AIS susceptibility (Table 3). The sample size in case and control group should be the number of population with genotype TT or CC while they used all.
