Strong growth in energy and transportation sectors of the economy has given Monticello Hardwood Inc. of Monticello, Miss, reason to smile. About half of the company's production goes into timbers and ties that supply oil and gas companies, dry docks,heavy construction industries and railroads. Demand for domestic furniture frame stock and oak flooring material has been strong on the lumber side, reports Jim Duncan, President and one of three partners in the business. Kiln dried grade lumber markets, however, have been less than stellar.
