A little more than six months ago, logger Garland Haddock added shovel logging to his repertoire of harvesting capabilities. Adding a tracked Tigercat C250 loader last fall was the final step in making shoveling a reality. The loader, supplied by A.G.Las-siter Equipment Corp., Washington, NC, makes it possible to mat skid roads when needed to protect soft or wet terrain. According to oldest son Steven, 44, that's about 50% of the time. Even when it isn't needed for shoveling, he says, the self-propelled machine makes setting up the landing faster and more efficient.
