It is widely acknowledged that the methodology and reporting of systematic reviews of adverse effects need to improve and it is in this regard that I read with interest the systematic review of adverse effects associated with chiropractic interventions by Gouveia et al. Despite its strengths, the review by Gouveia et al suffers from 2 significant methodologic problems that clearly detract from its quality.
