Verification of Data Integrity on Compact Disks with a Metal-Ceramic Recording Layer

摘要

The data integrity on Data Tresor Discs (DTDs) with metal-ceramic layers has been investigated in the process of artificial humidity, heat, and light ageing. In a DTD, organic materials of the recording layer are replaced with inorganic metal-ceramic materials deposited by multiposition plasma spraying. The qual-ity parameters of the data stored on a disk were evaluated according to the following parameters: (1) the max-imum number of internal and external read errors, (2) the average number of internal and external read errors, and (3) the quality rating. Research results showed that performance properties of the document on the compact disk with the metal-ceramic layer, i.e., its ability to reproduce data, are completely preserved after exposure to various environmental factors (elevated temperature, relative humidity, and light radiation). DTDs can be recommended for long-term data storage.
