An investigation was undertaken to study the flowering behaviour and floral characters in four chrysanthemum cultivars to the treatment of certain growth substances viz., with GA_3 at 100,150 ppm, SA at 50 and 100 ppm, TR at 1,2,3 ppm and BR at 0.1,0.2,0.3 ppm as main plot and the cultivars Baggi, Indira, Red G0W and Shymai in the sub plot. The results indicated that the length of the flower stalk and spray was increased drastically by GA_3in all the four cultivars compared to the control. The cultivar Indira recorded the longest spray on treatment with 150 ppm of GA_3, while the broadest flower diameter was obtained in BR treated plants irrespective of the cultivars. The weight of the individual increased in cv. Shymai in combination with SA 100 ppm.
