A study was conducted in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, to investigate the effects of biofertilizers Azospirillum, phosphobacteria and vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizas (VAM), along with inorganic nutrients (30:10:10, 30:5:10, 30:0:10, 15:10:10, 15:5:10 and 15:0:10 NPK, each at 0.2% spray) and growth regulator gibberellic acid (GA3; at 200 ppm), on floral characters (such as spathe length and width, spadix length, stalk length and girth) and vase life of anthurium (A. andraeanum) cv. Temptation. The biofertilizers were used at 2 g/plant. Azospirillum and phosphobacteria were given as a root dip treatment by preparing slurry. VAM was given as soil application by mixing with organic amendments. The inorganic nutrients and GA3 were sprayed on the plants at weekly intervals. A control with no fertilizer application was included. The treatment receiving all the 3 biofertilizers, along with full dose of inorganic nutrients and GA3, recorded the highest vase life and improved the floral characters..
