Massive restoration project was decades in the making

Designed by noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1909, the Mason City complex that housed a bank, office space, and upscale hotel opened to the public in 1910. During the financial crisis of the '20s, however, City National Bank closed, and that portion of the building was remodeled and used as retail space for the next several decades.
