Do you have a spot in the landscape that needs color but only has room for something low growing? Here are three plant choices that make good groundcovers with nicely colored flowers or foliage. Marble leaf, Peristrophe hyssopifolia 'Aureo-varie-gata'is an herbaceous perennial growing 12 to 15 inches tall and spreading about as wide. Pointed leaves are bright gold with dark-green edges. During the warmer months, it bears pale purple flowers. Marble leaf grows best in bright shade or filtered light and needs moist soil. It's native to Java and hardy in Zones 9-11.
