I believe that if sculpture takes something from the landscape, it should offer something back. For countless centuries people have been crumbling fragments of metal from rocks and scorching them to liquid, only to forge them into artthathas such strength and permanence that it can endure for millennia. This gives the artist a unique responsibility to enhance the setting into which the sculpture is placed.
