An inverter type high voltage generator for dental X-ray systems

We developed an inverter type X-ray high voltage generator of conversion frequency 100kHz, output 70kV-7mA and maximum time 3.2seconds, which is used for dental x-ray systems. The target for development was naturally to secure the performance superiority as the inverter type and also to realize smaller size and lower price to compete with the conventional one. The inverter is voltage type series resonant half bridge inverter using the MOSFETs. of TO-3P package. For the high voltage generating, we adopted the Cockcroft-Walton circuit It is a simple structure consisting of two printed circuit boards of the inverter and of the high voltage circuit. We also realized the quick rising of X-ray tube voltage 5ms to cope with the digital image system to be adopted in the near future. Input power source can be single-phase 100V or 200V.
