One-package paint for both PP and TPO

In the automobile industry, air bags to protect passengers in collisions have become standard equipment. In the production of automobile interior parts, different materials such as PP material for the instrument panel and TPO material for the air bag system are used. For painting these parts, two or more different types of paint are required. This increases paint costs and complicates working processes and has created a need for a paint system usable for both parts. The conventional paint for PP material was designed based on acrylic resin, and its film was hard and fragile. Since the focal point of the development of one-package paint PLANET P0 - 1' usable for both PP and TPO is flexibility of the film to meet the bending of the TPO material, we designed it based on urethane resin. This paint can cope with materials with different characteristics and also achieve the required film performance by combining the urethane resin and acrylic resin. Its film performance and painting workability are as good or better than those of the conventional one-package paint for PP material.
