A Dominant and Undescribed Species of Reticulitermes in Sapelo Island (Georgia, USA)

Based on mitochondrial DNA analysis, an undescribed species of Reticu-litermes, morphologically close to R. hageni, was collected in Sapelo Island (Georgia, USA). This species is sympatric with Reticulitermes flavipes and R. virginicus. Aggressivenesshas been observed between this new species towards R. flavipes and R. virginicus, which partly explained the predominance of this species in the studied area.
