A Li4Ti5O12/graphitized carbon nanotubes (GCNTs) composite was prepared by using a solid-state method. The influence of GCNTs on the particle size, morphology and electrochemical performance of the Li4Ti5O12/ GCNTs composite was investigated. The Li4Ti5O12/GCNTs composite exhibited high specific capacity and good rate capability. At 0.5C, its initial discharge capacity was 163 mAh/g, which is close to the theoretical capacity of Li4Ti5O12. Even at 10.0C, its initial discharge capacity could reach 143 mAh/g. The discharge capacity of the Li4Ti5O12/GCNTs composite after 100 cycles at 10.0C was 132 mAh/g, which is about 86% of its capacity after the same number of cycles at 1.0C (154 mAh/g).
