Chemical preparation, thermal behavior and crystal structure of a new cyclotriphosphate: SrNH_4P_3O_9 centre dot 3H_2O

A new cyclotriphosphate trihydrate of strontium and ammonium, SrNH_4P_3O_9 centre dot 3H_2O, was obtained as single crystals by the metathesis reaction of Boullé. Its thermal behavior and crystal structure are given. SrNH_4P_3O_9 centre dot 3H_2O crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, Pnma, with the following unit cell parameters: a = 9.126 (1)A, b = 8.157 (1)A, C = 15.256 (2)A and Z = 4. Its crystal structure has been determined and refined down to R = 0.037, using 6263 independent reflections. The thermal behavior has been investigated and interpreted by IR absorption and X-ray diffraction experiments.
