A-site deficient La-doped SrTiO_3 (La_(0.2)Sr _(0.7)TiO_3) was evaluated as a potential anode component material for intermediate temperatures SOFCs. Button fuel cells were produced by tape casting and impregnation, comprising YSZ electrolyte, a porous, conductive backbone of La_(0.2)Sr_(0.7)TiO_3 anode impregnated via solutions with Gd-doped CeO_2 and a metal (i.e. Cu). Thin films of La_(0.6)Sr_(0.4)CoO_3 cathode produced in-situ in the fuel cell test experiment. Fuel cells tests using pure, humidified H _2 as fuel demonstrated that remarkable power densities in excess of 0.5 W/cm2 at 750 °C can be achieved with suitable pre-reduction of the titanate material.
