Wepresentexperimentalresultsonlarge-arealow-costprocessedflexibleorganicphotovoltaic(OPV) modulesincorporatingorganicbypassdiodestoeliminatethenegativeeffectsofshadingonthemodulepoweroutput.Afullyorganic-basedstructure(organicsolarmodulecombinedwithanorganicbypassdiodeisessentialtoallowmonolithicinterconnectionofthebypassdiodeduringthesolarmoduleproductionwithinthesameprintingsteps.Theoriginofshadinglossesinorganicphotovoltaicmodulesisanalyzedindetail,andguidelinesforthedesignandarchitectureofflexibleOPVmodulesarederived.Inorganicandorganicdiodesweretestedontheirfunctionalityasbypassdiodes,andasetofdiodespecificationstominimizeshadinglossesissummarized.OrganicbypassdiodeswerefoundtoefficientlyreducetheadverseshadingeffectsinOPVmodules.
