Weet-Bix: 75+ years' strong!

Enjoying great success and with five factories soon operating in Australia and another two in New Zealand, Weet-Bix was acquired in 1930 by the Sanitarium Health Food Company. That same year it was exported to South Africa and a factory was set up inCape Town under the direction of one Norman Jeffes. He hit upon the idea of using the old power station in Electric Road, Wynberg. It was the first factory in South Africa to use furnace oil for heating, and fuel was delivered from Table Bay docks by donkey cart.
