SteamLab debuts in South Africa

Cape Town-based spice company, Exim International, has dug deep into its pockets to invest in state-of-the-art steam pasteurisation/sterilisation technology. 'OUR customers don't want irradiation - it's as simple as that. Our customers want food safety achieved by natural methods, thus we had no option but to look for sterilisation alternatives,' comments Exim director, Gary Neill. Exim International in Maitland was founded in 1985 by the expatriate Zimbabwean Neill family, supplying spices, casingsand general requisites to the food and meat industries. It also holds the agency for Victorinox's range of industrial knives. The business has flourished over the years and now has branches in Durban and Johannesburg.
