Dairy has pioneered significant product innovation in this country over the past few years, and one of the leaders of the charge, from both a creative and technical side, has been Terry Terblanche. Brenda Neall caught up with this dairy supremo and his new business venture. WHEN dairy technologist, Terry Terblanche, joined Fair Cape Dairies in Cape Town ten years ago, it was a small milk operation that made a bit of yoghurt on the side. Today, the group is one of the biggest independent dairies in South Africa, and tens of thousands of litres of yoghurt leave its cold store rooms every day. One of its arms, The Dairy Connection, based in Killarney Gardens, has established a formidable reputation as Woolworths' supplier of yoghurt and dairy desserts. The subsidiary has become a benchmark in dairy innovation for the retailer in particular and the dairy sector in general — and a key man behind this success story is one of its erstwhile directors and technical brains, Terry Terblanche.
