Choosing the right press technology, able n to meet the specific requirements of a NWH business now, while having the capability to adapt to future needs, is never easy. But the decision on whether to buy a transfer press, put in progression tooling, or pursue some other forming solution can set more problems than most when it comes to guessing the long term needs of a business. Transfer presses today are very fast and can generate large numbers of high quality components, while coil fed progression tooling looks good when compared with manual or automated blank feed to gang-tool setups. Arguably, the single tool can be easier to set up and production rates will be faster and more consistent than with manual feed. Progression tooling and transfer presses compare favourably with robot handling on both speed and overall cost per unit.
