CLA is an increasing problem

The prevalence of the disease is increasing in the UK, resulting in welfare issues for the affected animals and economic losses to producers due to ill thrift. At the abattoir, affected carcases also require careful trimming to remove diseased tissues and may be condemned outright in extreme cases. Chronic diseases such as CLA can reduce an animal's ability to fend off other diseases, and hence an underlying CLA problem contributes to an overall decline in flock health.
