Canada - Order adds tributyi- and tetrabutyltins to CEPA, 1999

Tributyltins (which contain the grouping (C4H9)3Sn) and tetrabutyltins (which have the molecular formula (C4H9)4Sn) are added to the list of toxic substances to Schedule 1 to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999. This addition enables the development of instruments including regulations for these substances under CEPA, 1999. Regulatory or non-regulatory measures may be employed to manage the environmental risks posed by these substances. The proposed Order to add these substances to Schedule 1 to CEPA, 1999 was published in the Canada Gazette Part I in October 2009 (see SHE9282).
