Characterisation of nanomaterials in accordance with the Reach Regulation

The German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) presents a literature review of the applicability of the Reach test methods regulation (EC Regulation No 440/2008) (see SHE9210) to nanomaterials. The first part of the review explains the various terms used for nanomaterials and explains the classification of nanomaterials. A description of the physicochemical properties of nanomaterials is given along with" the feasibility to characterise substances at the nanoscale using test methods listed in EC Regulation No 440/2008.
